Episode Three: Beneath the Deep

*Eve nods*

<That'd be even better.>

E"Sounds fair to me."

R"Are you crazy? He's huge, he'll crush you!"

E"Then I'll just have to not get hit."

*She raises her fists in a boxing gesture & shifts her legs so that she can quickly duck or pivot in any direction. Roatha wisely gets the fuck out of there. Aroma hides behind Renamon, whispering "please stop!"*

Renamon looks over her shoulder at Aroma then to Monzaemon.

Ogremon mimics her stance then starts off with an uppercut, going for her stomach.

The blow doesn't connect, nor is Euryale given an opportunity to counter before the two are picked up in blue, heart-shaped bubbles, their anger and will to fight being replaced by a feeling of serenity.

Salamon: "Took you long enough."

Monzaemon: "You shouldn't fight amongst yourselves. Not at a time like this."

The manor is illumimated with elaborate chandeliers and kerosene lanterns. Compared to the dwellings of other such lords he has visited, it is arguably the best lit.

Aside from his footsteps, the manor is silent until he climbs an elaborate staircaise leading to the main hall were orchestra music can be faintly heard growing louder the closer her gets to the source.

The source comes from a large set of heavy, black doors. Pushing them open he enters the ballroom where Myotismon and a [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] dance elegantly while restrained Devidramon watch from atop pillars all around the room.

The music and dancing ceases when Myotismon spies Zarek.

Myotismon: "I apologize, my dear, but I have business to attend to."

Myotismon takes Witchmon's hand and kisses it before she leaves, glaring daggers at Zarek.

E"Hey man...I'm sorry. And you've got a nice punch."

R"Oh great, now she's a pothead."

*Aroma breathes a sigh of relief. Guilmon runs over & tries to pop Euryale's bubble.*

Eve:<Why didn't you do that before?>

Monzaemon: "Wizardmon said to do something when they started throwing punches."

The bubble pops and Euryale falls out.

Ogremon: "Yeah...why all the fighting?"

E"Yep. We should just enjoy the forest. Where'd Taiyo go?"

*She looks around for Taiyo.*

R"...Can you turn her back? I don't like her this way."

Cameron:<It's probably temporary.>

Monzaemon: "It'll wear off soon enough."

Taiyo: "Right...here."

She is beside Renamon who is maybe three feet away.

Ogremon: "Yes, the forest."

Ogremon's bubble pops and it falls out with a crash that doesn't seem to bother it. It picks up its club and goes off towards the forest.

Myotismon: "I take it you talked Phantomon into allowing you to enter my domicile. Good help is so hard to find. I have considered Dobermon and Cerberumon, but they're not native to the island and that harlot LadyDevimon refuses to relinquish control of any of her own."

Zarek: "It must be hard to be an aristocrat and not get everything you want."

Myotismon: "How crass of you to insult me in my own home. State your business before I release the Devidramon."

Zarek: "Murmukusmon has been slain. On a semi-related note, IceDevimon has been too."

Myotismon: "All quite tragic, but there is no time for mourning. I must prepare my ascendance of the mountain to claim my throne."

Zarek: "Not so fast. The one who did Murmukusmon in is most likely coming after you seeing how you're now at the top of the food chain."

Myotismon: "And why is this avenger coming my way? I have done nothing noticibly wrong. At least not while Murmukusmon and that damned messenger live and breathed."

Zarek: "Not my place to say. But that does bring me to why I'm here."

Myotismon: "More than just a warning about an incoming assassin?"

Zarek: "Yes. Why is it neither you nor Murmukusmon did anything to stop IceDevimon? Phantomon would've been enought to handle it leaving you to continue on with your usual day."

Myotismon: "I just don't care. I want no part in this Millenniummon fiasco and a little snow on the walkway is a small price to pay for neutrality."

"Yay!"

*She runs over & hugs Taiyo, looking back at Ogremon. Guilmon is looking at his claws like he just murdered someone.*

"Are you all right, man?"

*Eve follows Ogremon*

Taiyo hugs Euryale back, uncertain if it means anything.

Taiyo: "Yes..."

The others follow Ogremon.

Myotismon: "Have you spoken to GranDracmon about this?"

Zarek: "I have not. GranDracmon is likely aware of the situation. It just doesn't care."

Myotismon: "Of course. Selfish bastard."

Zarek: "Says the pot to the kettle. GranDracmon not being involved is a good thing. I prefer if it only does something once in awhile to stir the pot, but full involvement could not end well. It's the only time I accept indifference to any situation."

Myotismon: "As useful as always Zarek, farewell."

Zarek: "Goodbye. Heed my warning, Myotismon. The Black Knight is likely coming for you next."

Myotismon: "In the event it does arrive, I shall make it know true fear."

Witchmon enters as Zarek leaves, the Digimon continuing and finishing their dance.

*Euryale keeps walking with her arm around Taiyo. Aroma walks with Renamon, asking her about any unfamiliar plant that she sees.*

"Listen, I'm sorry about earlier."

*Kylie and Lunamon head back up to the front of the party, Cameron and Biyomon walking near the back*

Kylie:<So, Mr. Ogremon, do you live around here?>

The mist for which the forest gets its name from is quite dense. The thick canopy above them doesn't make matters better.

Taiyo: "It's okay. It was my fault for annoying you."

Ogremon: "Nope."

Kylie:<Oh. Where do you live then?>

*She waves her off.*

E"No, no, I need to learn to control my temper."

R"Jesus, what did you do, punch her?"

E"I took a...tone...."

*He looks at Taiyo.*

R"That's what you're upset about? Really?"

That does nothing to make her feel better.

Ogremon: "East portion of the island. What is this, twenty questions? Lay off."

The wind begins to pick up although it does nothing to dispel the mist. Ahead the mist is thin enough they can see a pair of Dracomon eating each other. They stop long enough to growl at the group before continuing.

Ogremon: "Damn it!"

Ogremon unleashes a wave of dark energy from its fist, destroying the Dracomon.

Ogremon: "It's near."

*Kylie is sad*

Eve:<What's near?>

R"I thought your bubble thing was supposed to calm him down."

Monzaemon having not followed them, he is talking to himself.

Ogremon: "The beast that resides in these woods. It rides the winds searching for prey to cure its insatiable hunger."

Azuma: "And those-"

He looks at his D-Terminal.

Azuma: "Dracomon that were indulging in themselves?"

Ogremon: "The presence of the beast can cause those who suffer from hunger to resort to cannibalism."

Azuma: "Hope everyone had a good breakfast."

As they continue on through the forest, they hear movement in the trees. Every now and again they pass a stone statue of a Digimon, a look of horror on its face.

*Aroma is terrified, & holds her hands in front of her mouth.*

A"But I didn't eat anything, & neither did Euryale!"

R"Didn't want to eat the Digichow?"

*Cameron looks rather sick*

<Glad I didn't try the meat.>

With a great bellow, a stone Gabumon is smashed against a tree and thunderous footsteps approach with the howling wind.

Ogremon: "It's here."

Appearing seemingly from nowhere is a large bipedal creature that appears to be a cross between ape and rabbit. Wendigomon. It doesn't stand as tall as IceDevimon's final form, but it's tall enough that if it stood up straight, its head would be in the trees.

Aroma and Euryale's hunger worsens, a desire to soothe it by any means enters their minds.

Renamon stands in front of Taiyo, staring the two down while Salamon and Patamon Digivolve to confront the Wendigomon as it raises a fist to attack Ogremon.

<Lalamon, Digivolve to...SUNFLOWMON! SUNSHINE BEAM!>

*She fires a SUNSHINE BEAM into its face. Dorumon also Digivolves, standing by Renamon at Roatha's direction. Finally, Guilmon charges at Wendigomon, Digivolving into Growlmon as he runs.*
