Gathering Guardians

*Ark is practicing with a Blitzball on the beach & Zephyr is just lying there when an armored Guado woman comes stumbling out of the jungle, staring around, wide-eyed, mouth agape, & generally looking like a fucking tourist.*

~Bevelle~

*Hitomi, Max, & Syrona are in a library, Syrona to negotiate a job. The man she's looking for is rather easy to pick out, as he's an 8-foot Ronso Warrior with an enormous sword on his back, comically reading a large, leather-bound book that he can fit in one hand with a pair of small, circular-lensed reading glasses.*

"That's... odd."

*He looks away from her and continues his practise. He throws the ball up in the air and jumps after it, kicking it backwards over his head, towards the sea*

[Jeez, I wonder if that's him...]

*Syrona walks over to the large Ronso and sits down across from him. Before speaking, she looks around the library. It was relatively safe for them to discuss a job, though depending on the job a more secluded location could have been better.*

"Since you the only Ronso in here, I bet its safe to say your the contact?"

Zephyr begins to say something but closes his mouth and instead points towards the Guado woman with his mouth open again.

*Max is reading a book titled "Beginner's guide to lightning", which he's reading on a table next to a window.*

Max: <This is so confusing...>

*Max puts down the book and looks out the window, watching the people passing by.*

*Hitomi is at the far end of the library reading a book titled 'Some People Just Want to Watch the World Burn' turning the page every now and then.*

~Besaid~

*She walks up to the pair, twirling the spear around as though trying to find the least threatening way to hold it.*

"E-excuse me. Do either of you know where I can find the village on this island?"

*The Ronso closes his book, setting it gently on a table.*

Ronso<Yes. Zazak Ronso. Want Syrona to accompany Ronso Fangs to Luca. Join escort to deal with Fiends. It's not like we can't handle them, we just want to stay in peak condition for the big match.>

OOC: Most Ronso have a habit of talking like that. It's not that they're dumb, though. The Ronso Fangs are the Ronso's Blitzball team.

Ark: <Oh, sure! But, hum, I don't think I can take you there. Oui caa, E's yh Al Bhed.>

*He steps back, used to the Yevonites' reaction to the Al Bhed*

OOC: Oui caa, E's yh Al Bhed. = You see, I'm an Al Bhed.

Zephyr scratches his head, "Translate that Ark, for me and the... uh... lady... thing... person... with the spear" he gives her a confused look. "There's a village here Ark? I thought it was just you and the exploration team.. and me" he coughs.

*Hitomi closes the book and returns it to the shelf getting another one titled 'So You Want to Watch the World Burn?'*

[I should stop reading this authors work.]

OOC: haha poor Hitomi needs some interaction.

[Damn...I hate trying to decipher Ronso...]

"Simple escort, easy fiends? Sure, I'm game. When do we leave, and who else is on the escort."

*Max picks the book back up and tries to study the complicated language used in it.*

Max: <This is painful. I'll never get anything done this way.>

OOC: Unfortunately, Hitomi is always like that.

Zazak<Funny you should ask. Only Al Bhed wanted to help. Manager wouldn't have any of that. So anyone I can get before we leave tomorrow. Because of this, job now pays 500 Gil.>

"...Lady thing person with a spear...?"

*She looks at Arc, her eyes wide.*

"So you're an Al Bhed? I've never seen one before...."

Ark: <Oac. I mean--yes. Ignore my buddy over here, he's not a very subtle person. Anyway, I can show you the way if you want.>

[Y Guado eh Besaid...?]

OOC: Ok since I never played FF, I don't know how money comes by, so is 500 Gil a lot? Basically I want to know if that's 500 Gil each or for the entire escort?

"No team, huh? Definitely can't have that. Leave it to me, I'll find a team."

*Syrona leans back in her seat and looks around the library. She notices a young man in the corner reading a book with lightning in big letters on its cover.*

[A mage?]

"Excuse me! Want a job?"

*Max stutters as he hears a female voice that appears to be calling him.*

Max: <U-ummm... me?>

*Max drops his book from being so nervous*

Max: <Oh! Umm.... excuse me!>

*Max bends down to pick up his book.*

Max: <Umm... what kind of job?>

*Max is embarassed from everyone watching him all of a sudden.*

*Syrona couldn't help but to laugh to herself a bit.*

"Well, the Ronso Fangs are headed to a match and need an escort. But I don't have a team. I'm willing to bet you know some Magic."

*She gets up and extends her hand*

"Whaddya say? Wanna make some coin?"

*Max brings his eyes to the floor, then to his book, then up to her face.*

Max: <I...I know some magic. I'm not too good at it or anything...>

*Max starts to seem a tad bit smaller, depressed and seemingly sad for some reason*

Max: <S-sure....>

*Max shakes hands with the girl.*

*Syrona pats him on the back*

"Don't worry so much! It'll be an easy job. All we need is a healer and we'd be in great shape!"

Max: <O-okay... I don't know of any healers around here though.

*A small, almost invisible smile forms on his face.*

OOC: Argh, forum ate my post.

"Uh... yeah, lady-person-thing, what are you anyway?"

"...I'm a Guado. And--ahh--the thing is, when I get into Besaid, I kind of need...I guess you'd say a team? Kinda...I have something very specific I need to do here, & I need a little help."

Zazak<I think the girl with the glasses might be a white mage.>

*They see that the book he's holding is a book on human grammar.*

Ark: <Help? What with?>

*He walks around the girl, hands behind his back, staring at her armor suspiciously*

Ark: <Are you.. a monk!?>

"Whats a Guado?" he asks, "Her armor looks familar though..."

*The Ronso gets up, walking over towards Hitomi.*

Zazak<I'm sorry to bother you, ma'am, but would you be interested in taking a job? We are in need of a white mage, & you look like someone who gets a lot of library fines.>

OOC: Yet another character who I randomly decide isn't suited for the accent I gave him.
