Episode Twelve: The Man Who Laughs

The Digimental of Miracles appears beside the Digimental of Destiny.

Azuma: "If by wait you mean carry on, sure."

Eve:<We should avoid digivolving unless it becomes necessary. We need to conserve our strength.>

Cameron:<Saberdramon can carry a bunch of us, if we need to fly.>

E"Let's just drag whatever's in there out, & if it's dangerous, beat it into submission."

Azuma: "If those eyes do belong to something, we're outnumbered."

Cameron:<Then let's try to avoid them and see what happens.>

They presumably set off trying to avoid what's all around them and occasionally they'll hear and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and the sound of footsteps racing through the snow either coming towards them or past them.

Taiyo squeezes Aroma's hand, trying to suppress and yelp when she feels something pass her.

*Aroma squeezes back. Hyper-aware, she jumps at the slightest noise from Taiyo.*

A"What's wrong?!"

*Presumably on Aroma's other side, looking a little gloomy about being literally left out in the cold, Euryale makes a noise expressing confusion. As I clearly have only a vague awareness of where everyone is located, let's say Roatha stands by Eve if he's not there already & is about to try passing off grabbing her hand like an accident when Aroma starts yelling. Surprised, he looks around.*

*Eve had just moved her hand so that Roatha could more easily grab it when Aroma starts yelling. Her hand drops as she spins to face Aroma and Taiyo*

Kylie:<What's wrong?!>

Taiyo: "Something brushed passed me!"

They'll have to take her word for it as there are no visible footprints beyond the one's that were left previously.

Azuma: "We should hurry."

*Kylie looks around, wildly*

Cameron:<Uh, yeah...>

*So they do, Eve grabbing Roatha's hand in the process*

E"Maybe it was just a tree."

A"Yes! Yes, that must be it!"

*Aroma & Lalamon, lips quivering, look hopefully at Euryale. Roatha grabs back as Dorumon rolls off of his shoulder.*

D<Uuugh, how long is this going to take? Are we there yet?!>

It's quite the valley. The darkness and cold not helping them at all, but actually making it worse.

It's quite the jaunt and they're lucky to have not died along the way. They come to the gates of Overdell Cemetery, a location vaguely familiar to the few that met BlackWarGreymon prior to the battle with MarineDevimon.

Scattered about the grounds of the cemetery are all various headstones with letters and symbols.

Cameron:<I wonder if anything's actually buried here. Digimon don't normally need to be buried, right?>

*Euryale & Roatha look at headstones while Aroma & Lalamon shiver. Guilmon, presumably having more of his energy, moves out from under the blanket or whatever & starts sniffing stuff.*

D<Are we there yet?>

G<Yeah, are we?>

One headstone bears the Crest of Courage and reads "Child of Courage. Died a coward." The one Roatha views has the Crest of Purity and reads "Child of Purity. Corrupted."

Azuma: "This would be the time where we should Digivolve."

*So they Digivolve, Gallantmon kicking over that headstone.*

Doru<YEAH, let's BREAK shit!>

*Doruwhatevermon picks Roatha & Eve up in his jaws like a cat might pick up young, then swings his tail into the headstone they were staring at, presumably destroying a bunch of them. Rosemon just stands aside, frowning at them, then scanning the area.*

Cameron:<Are you sure that's what Azuma meant?>

*Eve grabs Roatha's arm tightly, Terriermon still clinging to her shoulder. Kylie and Lunamon biomerge to Dianamon, while Cameron and Biyomon try to avoid getting hit with shit*

The gravestones explode, but not in fire and anthrax as they should, but instead release a strange blue mist visible in the darkness.

It's not long before they begin feeling a sense of euphoria and an uncontrollable urge to laugh. Even stranger is they can taste something that can only be described as blue.

Taiyo's hold on Aroma's hand begins to loosen.

Taiyo: "I bet everything will be okay."

R"Doruhehemon, you haha idiot!"

*As I assume it takes a higher dosage to get a big dragon thing high, he grabs Roatha & Eve & takes to the skies. I further assume that Rosemon & Gallantmon were also able to avoid the worst of the effects by virtue of being taller than the others & seeing it coming, so they take to the sky as well. Rosemon not only tightens her grip on Taiyo's hand, but wraps her other arm around Taiyo's back to support her.*

D<Hang on, I'll try to get rid of the stuff!>

*So he flaps his wings, trying to clear the gas away.

*Dianamon grabs Cameron and takes to the sky, while Biyomon digivolves to Saberdramon and tries to help Dorugreymon clear away the gas. Eve hangs on tightly to Roatha*

Azuma: "I bet this won't....pffthaha...the last time this hahahappens!"

Clearing it away doesn't do much for anyone who breathed it in as breathing is what most lifeforms do, so they best hope it doesn't last long.

Renamon: "We should continue onwarhaha."

D<That's a terrible idea, you lot can't go for 2 seconds without dropping everything to laugh like morons!>

R"PffftAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA...you said "morons," heeehee."

*Eve starts giggling uncontrollably, checking Roatha violently*

<What are you?! 12? Hahahaha...>

With the gas gone, they're left in the dark, the feeling of euphoria and taste of blue slowly leaving them.

Azuma: "What did we hehe, learn today?"

L<"Are you okay, Taiyo?">

G<"I shouldn't have kicked over that headstone. I'm sorry, I should've known it might be trapped.">

D<Yeah, whatever. Hey, wait, if I hadn't triggered it & blown it away, then we'd still have to worry about it during the fighting!>

R"I think the answer here is 'nothing.'"

D<I have a valid point & you know it!>

L<"Alright, how about, as a compromise, we destroy the traps, but we do it from far away? Does that sound alright?">
